Spectacular Ladies Chair

Outstanding ladies chair heavily carved, constructed from Walnut on brass and Porcelain casters with embossed velvet upholstery, ladies chairs were usually made without arms to accomodate the large crinoline dresses that supported hoops inside the dress, the very low cut level of the arms at the rear of the chair were to accomodate these hoops, the same effect was also found with ladies chairs that have no arms at all, whereas the gentlemans chairs supported arms, a lovely feature piece, circa 1870.
